A huge thank you to everyone who made it out to the album launch last night in London. This record wouldn’t be possible without the kindness, encouragement and support of my friends and family. It challenged me as a composer to find ways of creating new sounds within the conscious confines of a truly solo performance. The cello helps me uncover and express my inner workings as a human. I feel so lucky and privileged to play this beautiful instrument. But this story ain’t about me. It’s about the cello and it’s for everyone, with no genre, cultural or stylistic limitations. Not a classical instrument, just an instrument.

I realised this year that Vol. 1, and now Vol. 2, are just the beginning📕📗
I look forward to sharing more of this journey with you all.

‘Overseas Stamp’ uses an everyday wooden cloth

‘Overseas Stamp’ uses an everyday wooden clothespin, clipped to a particular spot on the A & D strings, to create this cool effect. It sort of acts like a capo on a guitar, changing the two open strings to different notes, without tuning the cello. This is from my own discovery. I love trying to find new sounds on the cello. To my ears, it reminds me of the Kamancheh (an Iranian bowed string instrument). What does it sound like to you?
